Axioms for the Post Pandemic World

  1. Think of leading as you would swimming. Practice buoyancy, stamina, and the art of holding your breath.

  2. Reciprocity. Never ask people to do something you would not.

  3. Communicate: Not from podiums, pedestals or grandstands. But where you stand.

  4. Practice standing on your head. The view from bottom up is humbling. 

  5. Humility. Wear it like a freshly ironed white shirt.

  6. Never take yourself too seriously.

  7. Use authority like a good point guard. Spread the floor, distribute the ball. Set the tempo.

  8. Abstain from finger pointing. Accusation or Defensiveness.Count your losses. Do the ledger. And move on. 

  9. Belief is seasonal. It fluctuates. Never ever let go of hope.

  10. Look problems in the eye. The inner eye. Don’t flinch. 

  11. Be accurate and arduous. Don’t cheat on yourself.

  12. Seek multiple perspectives. Trust your own.

  13. Appreciate and celebrate the daily. It’s where holiness and happiness dwell. 

  14. Compost failures and disappointment. Recycle the things that sustain you. 

  15. Be inclusive, collaborative, and just. But close your door when required. 

  16. Pause.

  17. Be strategic. Look ahead, behind, and sideways. Consult doubt. But don’t dally there.

  18. Lead with integrity and imperfection. People can appreciate the earnestness of  being human.
